A porcelain stoneware ventilated facade is a wall covering system in which ceramic slabs are applied to the outside surface of the building with a gap between the slabs and the building, which creates a cavity.

The convection currents generated in this space create natural air circulation, which significantly reduces infiltrations into the wall, disperses the heat generated by sunlight and reduces heat loss during the winter. An insulating layer to protect the building from damp from the outside is usually also included.

The realisation process comprises the following steps:
    1. Project design
    2. Feasibility study
    3. Selection of material sizes and suitable anchor system
    4. Design of an installation pattern and relative outline calculation
    5. Installation
Applied to both new and renovated buildings, a ventilated facade extends their lifetime and provides major benefits in terms of energy saving, convenience and cost reduction.
Example of ventilated facade: Youmami Suite Hotel at Giulianova (Teramo, Italy), ventilated facade installed using the patented GECO® system.

    SHINGLED INSTALLATION -GECO® SYSTEM

Geco® is a ground-breaking wall cladding system inspired by wooden shingles, retaining their basic look but with all the expressive and technical strength of porcelain stoneware. Modules of three shingled slabs glued to an aluminium support guarantee a gap of 4 cm from the wall, placing Geco® in the ventilated facade category. The intrinsic properties of this patented system ensure that it is unaffected by the stresses acting on and within the existing wall. It can be mounted directly on brick or concrete facades, or on aluminium or planed wood substructures up to 22 metres high.

    IDEAL FOR EXTERNAL UPGRADING PROJECTS

When choosing the right claddings for building facades, the designer and end user are looking for an attractive, reliable product with technical and appearance characteristics guaranteed to last over time and suitable for installation on all kinds of facade, in brickwork, reinforced concrete or wood, or over thermal insulation.

Porcelain stoneware slabs meet these needs. They are made from an industrial material, constantly controlled and produced in accordance with the most severe EN14411standards, which define it as resistant and not subject to change over time. It is environment-friendly because it is made from recycled production materials which can also be easily recycled (it does not contain plastics or paints). These characteristics make it the prince of materials for use as a building cladding. It is attractive, tough, easy to install and economical, since it has no maintenance costs and allows savings and economies on buildings’ energy expenses.

INSTALLATION WITH SIKA TACK PANEL SYSTEM
ventilated building facades with mechanical anchor system sika

This innovative facade anchor system uses Sika Tack Panel, a powerful adhesive specifically developed to create a permanent bond between stoneware and aluminium.
This single-component adhesive, which has the consistency of a paste, is applied directly to the substructure and sets within a few minutes, reacting to the moisture in the atmosphere to form a tough elastomer.

This facade application system does not leave any metal parts visibleand it can also be combined with an additional hook, which is also completely concealed, for added safety.

It is recommended in particular for large slabs.

VENTILATE FACADES WITH CONCEALED MECHANICAL ANCHOR SYSTEM

ventilated building facades with concealed mechanical anchor system

This ventilated facade system uses special metal fixtures, which are hooks and clips specially designed to suit the size of the material, not visible to the eye.

This facade mounting system does not leave any metal part visible and allows completely dry installation of the stoneware.
The distance between the anchor points varies depending on the slab size and the design load calculated for the facade.
It is available in both 1 cm and 2 cm versions

VENTILATED FACADES WITH VISIBLE MECHANICAL ANCHOR SYSTEM

The ventilated facade system with visible hook is the most economical solution, easy to install and to maintain over time.
It adapts very easily to every tile size and with stands considerable loads. Slabs are conveniently placed on the clips fixed to the substructure; a seal installed between them ensures perfect adherence, dampens vibrations and allows the various materials to expand.

Clip shape and colour may vary depending on the type of finish and to match the material installed.

POSA A COLLA TRADIZIONALE CON ANCORAGGIO DI SICUREZZA

Glued facades clad the building with material installed directly on top of the external plaster, to improve its appearance and reduce the maintenance required.
For even safer installation, a special mechanical anchor system can also be used to ensure that the stoneware adheres to the wall.
After preliminary assessment of the type of masonry and insulation, the stoneware can also be glued to the insulating jacket, using the hook and with the aid of special expansion plugs.
